Charlotte's Restaurant Scene: 1 Michelin Star, Food Halls, Prix-Fixe Events
Charlotte's restaurant scene features a Michelin-starred spot alongside food halls and seasonal prix-fixe events.
How we reported this
Counter earned one star and a Green Star for sustainability in the 2025 Michelin Guide American South. The restaurant stands as the city's only entry in the inaugural guide for the region.
The recognition arrives as Charlotte Restaurant Week, known locally as The Queen’s Feast, runs in July. The event pairs with its January edition to give diners access to fixed menus at multiple price points across dozens of venues.
Neighborhood spots and global flavors
Haberdish, The Crunkleton, Stir in South End, Fig Tree Restaurant and Beef & Bottle Steakhouse remain local standbys. Fig Tree has operated as a chef-owned fine-dining address since 2005. Additional options include Open Rice Metropolitan for Peruvian dishes, La Lima and La Caseta for Latin cooking, and Yafo Kitchen for Mediterranean bowls. The brewery scene has grown with locations spread through different neighborhoods.
Food halls and seasonal menus
Optimist Hall houses more than 20 stalls plus games in its basement. Urban District Market has added international vendors since its 2023 expansion. Gibson Mill Market operates in nearby Concord. During the July edition of The Queen’s Feast, participating restaurants serve three-course prix-fixe menus priced from $30 to $45 for ten days.
Visitors can check current participation lists for The Queen’s Feast through local tourism sites and restaurant websites before planning reservations. Food halls operate on regular schedules and accept walk-up visits for sampling multiple vendors in one stop.
